Privacy Policy
Last updated 11 October 2026
This policy explains how personal data is handled when you visit marketagent.ai, run the demo, create an account or use MarketAgent on a paid plan. It applies to the website, the application at marketagent.ai and the emails we send.
Who is responsible for your data
The controller of personal data is the administrator of the marketagent.ai service. For anything related to this policy or your data, write to [email protected]. We answer every request in writing.
What data we collect
Account data
Your email address, a password (stored only as a salted hash), your name if you add it, the workspace you belong to and your role in it. When you sign up we send a code to your email address to confirm that the address is yours.
Workspace content
The questions you ask, the reports and market maps produced for you, the companies you track, your alert rules, alert channels (for example an email address or a Slack channel), your briefs and their recipients.
Billing data
Your plan, billing period, subscription status, invoices, billing name, billing address and tax ID if you provide them. Card details are entered on the payment operator's page and never reach our servers. We receive only limited card information such as the brand, the last four digits and the expiry date.
Usage and technical data
IP address, browser and device information, pages visited, actions in the application, timestamps and error logs. For the demo we store a hashed form of the IP address to apply the limit of one demo per day.
Messages
The content of emails you send to support and our replies.
Public business information in reports
MarketAgent researches markets from public sources: company websites, pricing pages, careers pages, press releases, public filings, public reviews and news. Reports are about companies and markets. Some public sources mention people in a business role, for example a newly appointed executive or the author of a public review. We process such information only as it appears in the public source, only for market and competitor analysis, and we keep the link to the source. If you are named in a report and want to object, write to [email protected].
Why we use data and on what legal basis
- To provide the service you signed up for: accounts, research, monitoring, alerts, briefs, exports and support. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- To bill subscriptions and keep accounting records. Legal basis: performance of a contract and legal obligations under tax and accounting law.
- To secure the service: preventing abuse of the demo, detecting fraud, keeping logs. Legal basis: legitimate interests in running a safe service.
- To improve the service with aggregated usage statistics. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- To send service emails: sign up codes, alerts, briefs, billing notices and important changes. Legal basis: performance of a contract. We do not send marketing emails without your consent.
AI processing and model training
To write reports and summaries, the text of your question and the public sources found for it are sent to an AI model provider. The provider processes this data only to return a result to us. Your questions, reports and workspace content are not used to train AI models, by us or by the provider.
Who receives data
We share personal data only with processors that help us run the service, under data processing agreements, and only as far as they need it:
- a hosting provider in the EU (application, databases and backups),
- a payment operator (payments, subscriptions and invoices),
- an email delivery provider (sign up codes, alerts, briefs and billing emails),
- an AI model provider (report and summary generation).
When you connect a channel such as Slack, alerts are delivered to that workspace under its own terms. We may also disclose data when the law requires it. We do not sell personal data.
Transfers outside the European Economic Area
Some processors may handle data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, transfers rely on an adequacy decision or on the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission, with additional safeguards where needed.
How long we keep data
- Account and workspace data: for as long as the account exists. After you delete the workspace or ask us to, we delete it within 30 days, and backups roll over within a further 30 days.
- Billing records and invoices: for the period required by tax and accounting law.
- Technical logs: up to 90 days, longer only when needed to investigate a security incident.
- Demo data without an account: the hashed IP address and the demo result for up to 30 days.
- Support emails: up to 2 years after the conversation ends.
Your rights
Under data protection law you can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction of processing and a copy in a portable format. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent at any time where processing relies on consent. Send requests to [email protected]. We may ask you to confirm your identity from the email address on the account. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the country where you live or work.
Security
Traffic is encrypted with TLS, data is encrypted at rest, passwords and API tokens are stored hashed, and access inside a workspace is controlled by roles. More details are on the security page.
Cookies
marketagent.ai sets only cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to work:
- a session cookie that keeps you signed in and remembers your demo result,
- a security cookie (CSRF token) that protects forms against cross site request forgery.
We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies or tracking pixels, so there is no cookie banner. Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent. You can delete cookies in your browser at any time, which signs you out.
Age
MarketAgent is a business service for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when the service or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we tell account owners by email before it takes effect.
